Good news CAN lead to late posts

Just got word today and basically the MRI looked stable. That is to say, nothing is growing in an alarming way. In fact, the results were so unimpressive that my next MRI will be held *two* months from now. So what led to the delay in reporting? As soon as I got the word, I decided it was time to start living my next two months. So I got ready and headed north for a fantastic annual kayak trip. I'll try to post more info upon my return. Have a great weekend!

  1. Dear blogger

I am the editor of a new open access journal dedicated to cancer research (www.oghreports.org) being in August 2012. I am also a physician by training and my PhD. work was dedicated towards finding new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for cancer and towards a way to counter cancer cell resistance to chemotherapy. I came across your blog and read about your story and felt touched by it.

As a clinician, I would like to share your story with other clinicians and scientists who work every day with cancer patients or in labs trying to battle this disease. The journal is circulated to a large body of clinicians and scientists and we would like to share your perspectives with the scientific community. Our Editorial board includes several well known scientists, clinicians and surgeons, as well as researchers who are motivated to fight this condition.

If you would be interested to share the story of your fight with cancer, please email me at editor@oghreports.org. There is no limit to the text. Photographs are welcome. There is no deadline but if you would like something to be included in our second issue, the last date for that would be November 30th. You can also write about your blog or any questions that you may have and we will run it by our experts and post an answer in the journal.

Please also share this message with your friends and colleagues.

    regards
    Subhankar

    1. Feel free to share all that's on the blog. That said, while I'd love to write a journal article at some point, I'm finding it hard enough to find time to add to the blog....

  4. Kayaking can be a blast and communing with nature can be wonderfully relaxing. I've been kayaking in the Sea of Cortez and throw my kayak into Lake Michigan at every chance I get. Any kayaking trips you can reccomend?

    1. Lake Michigan! Love it! I'm originally from Michigan (on the Mitten side). As for trips, unfortunately the kinds that I could recommend are geared towards whitewater, not sea kayaking....
